Practice Areas Overview

At Austin Law Firm in Indian Trail, North Carolina, we provide clients throughout Union, Mecklenburg, and Anson Counties with efficient and effective legal representation in:

Real Estate

Whether large or small, real estate transactions inevitably involve a host of complex and technical legal issues related to sale and purchase contracts, loan and other financing agreements, deed warranties and execution, and related documents.  An experienced real estate lawyer can work to ensure your real estate transaction closes smoothly.  At Austin Law Firm, we represent clients in home sales and purchases and residential and commercial closings, and we regularly assist clients with mortgage refinancing.  We help our clients in negotiating, drafting, and reviewing transactional documents, and when disputes arise, we advocate for their best interests in litigation.  For more information, please see our real estate page.

Family Law

We represent clients in all types of family law matters including divorce, child custody, child support, equitable property division, alimony/spousal support, paternity, and divorce mediations.  We understand that divorce and other family law matters are stressful for our clients and their children.  It is our goal to make the process as efficient as possible so that our clients can move on with their lives.  We also understand that there is a time and place for aggressive representation, but know when it is time to work collaboratively.  To read more about our family law practice, please visit the family law page.

Wills & Estates

At Austin Law Firm, we assist clients with a range of estate planning and probate matters, including the preparation of simple wills, revocable living trusts and related documents, as well as more complex, sophisticated estate and gift planning matters.  Our lawyers are also experienced representing executors, administrators, trustees, and beneficiaries in probate administration and litigation matters, including will contests, disputes among beneficiaries, and lawsuits concerning the validity or interpretation of trust documents.

Criminal Defense

We have a wealth of experience in the area of criminal defense, handling a wide range of misdemeanor and felony matters including driving while intoxicated (DWI), drug crimes, possession charges, traffic offenses, and speeding tickets.  Firm member Leah Catherine Austin is a former Assistant District Attorney and was head of the Anson County District Attorney's Office, granting her unique insight into the local criminal justice system, an asset which benefits our clients in the courtroom and during plea negotiations with local prosecutors.  For more information about our experience in criminal defense, please see the criminal law page.

Juvenile Law

Juvenile law encompasses criminal matters involving minors, as well as civil Division of Social Services matters involving abused and neglected minors.  Minors who are arrested and convicted for crimes are subject to North Carolina's juvenile justice system, which is different than the adult criminal justice system and is aimed at juvenile delinquency prevention and rehabilitation.  A record of juvenile delinquency can have a significant impact on your child's future, including college admissions.  If your child has been accused of involvement in a criminal matter, it is essential to seek the advice of a lawyer with experience in the area of juvenile law as soon as possible.  For more information about juvenile law and criminal matters, please see the criminal law page of our website.
